History

County Cork LLC was formed in 2002 by Robert J. O’Brien Jr., former President of R.J. O’Brien & Associates, the oldest and largest independent futures broker in the United States. Mr. O’Brien’s grandfather founded R.J. O’Brien & Associates (then known as J. V. McCarthy & Company) in 1914. J. V. McCarthy was a founding member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).

Mr. O’Brien’s father served on the Board and as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the CME and was inducted into the Futures Industry Association Futures Hall of Fame in 2007.

For over 100 years R.J. O’Brien & Associates helped to shape the commodity futures industry and is the only CME founder still in existence. Mr. O’Brien brings this extensive experience and tradition of excellence to County Cork and its clients.

County Cork is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as a commodity trading advisor (CTA) and is a member of the National Futures Association (NFA).
